11 Days Pilgrimage to Prague - Vienna - Budapest from Denver, CO - October 4th -14th 2020 - Fr. James Spahn

Day 1: Departure
Depart for your overnight flight to Prague. Meals will be served on board! 

Day 2: Prague arrival
• Upon arrival in Prague Airport you will find your luggage and exit the baggage claim into the arrivals hall where you will be greeted by your tour escort and/or driver.
• After a warm welcome to Prague you will be escorted to your transportation to your hotel.
• Enjoy a free afternoon to stroll the quaint streets of Prague before meeting your group.
• Celebrate Mass at the local church
• Dinner at hotel 
• Overnight at the hotel in Prague. (D)

Day 3: Prague
• Breakfast at the hotel.
• After breakfast, we begin our tour of beautiful Prague.
• Your guided tour of Prague starts with the Castle district Hradcany (entrance fee included) and a visit to St. Vitus’ Cathedral (used for the inauguration of presidents and where you can find the tomb of St. Wenceslas and former rulers of the Czech Kingdom). This beautifully decorated chapel is dedicated to the patron of Czech lands, St. Wenceslas, a Bohemian Prince from the Premyslid dynasty assassinated by his own brother. The chapel was built on the former place of Romanesque rotunda where Wenceslas was buried. St. Wenceslas Chapel still keeps the holy relics of the saint. Continue on to the Basilica of St. George and a visit to Prague Castle. You will also see the Golden Lane, a row of tiny artisans’ shops built outside the castle walls in medieval times.
• We celebrate Mass at the Church of Our Lady Victorious (subject to confirmation) and see the renowned statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague.
• Lunch on your own.
• After lunch we will cross the Charles Bridge to visit the Ood town, which is considered to be one of the finest historical city centers in Europe. Visit the Old Town Square, the Town Hall with its famous Astronomical Clock, which comes alive when the hour strikes and the twelve disciples appear to bless the crowd, as well as the Church of Our Lady Before Tyn.
• Back to the hotel to refresh 
• Dinner and Folklore at local restaurant 
• Overnight at the hotel in Prague. (B, D)

Day 4: Prague – Cesky Krumlov - Salzburg
• Breakfast at the hotel and check-out.
• Depart for Cesky Krumlov en route we stop at Prahatlice birth place of St John Neopmuk where we celebrate mass at the local church 
• On to Cesky Krumlov 
• Guided tour Cesky Krumlov to include the interior of the famous Castle 
• Lunch on your own 
• Carry on to Salzburg for dinner and Overnight (B,D) 

Day 5: Salzburg – Sound of Music Tour 
• Breakfast at the hotel.
• After breakfast, our full day tour begins with Mass at St. Peter's Churchyard (subject to confirmation).
• Salzburg is compact and best explored on foot. Narrow, winding lanes and secluded passageways are evidence of its medieval roots. The heritage of the Catholic Church is evident in the Archbishop's Residence and the decoration of the State Rooms, available for viewing (not included). Visit the mighty Romanesque Cathedral, the Nonnberg Convent of Benedictine nuns and the Fortress Hohensalzburg (entrance fee included).
• Lunch on your own.
• This afternoon we enjoy tour of Sound of Music where we enjoy the enchanting Salzgkammergut region with its crystal clear water lakes, where we visit Mondsee and Lake Wolfgang 
• Dinner at St Peterkeller restaurant with Mozart Show 
• Overnight at the hotel in Salzburg. (B, D)

Day 6: Salzburg – Berchtsgaden “Eagle Nest” – Lake Konigsee 
• Breakfast at the hotel.
• This morning we depart to Berchtsgaden to visit the Eagle nest famous for Hitler’s summerhouse built on the heights of the Alps. A thrilling bus tour will take us up to a height of 5000 feet from where we enjoy the thrilling views of the Alps and Konigsee lake 
• On to Konigsee Lake 
• Lunch on your own
• We enjoy a boat ride on Konigsee Lake with a stop at St Bartholomew’s Church 
• Mass 
• Return to Salzburg for dinner and Overnight 

Day 7: Salzburg – Mariazell – Vienna
• Breakfast at the hotel and check-out.
• After breakfast, we drive east through Austria to Mariazell, the most important pilgrimage place in Austria.
• We will stop and see the miraculous statue, which is housed in the Lady Chapel or Chapel of Miracles, built directly over the place where Magnus established his monastic cell in 1157.
• Celebrate Mass (subject to confirmation).
• We continue onto to Vienna, Austria's capital.
• En route lunch on your own.
• Arrive and check into your hotel.
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Vienna. (B, D)

Day 8: Vienna
• Breakfast at the hotel.
• This morning e start the day with Mass at Stephen Cathedral followed by a tour of the interiors of the Cathedral to include the rooftop of the Cathedral 
• On for a walking tour of Vienna Historical center passing the Hofburg palace and gardens, Donners fountain, pass the famous Horse riding school and opera house
• Lunch on yoru own with some free time at Stephanstrasse to enjoy the coffee shops and restaurants that line up the famous street. Perhaps stop at Sacher coffee shop to try the famous Viennese cake (not included) 
• This afternoon After breakfast we will enjoy a sightseeing of Vienna, home of Strauss and Mozart and one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
• Visit of the Schönbrunn Royal Palace (entrance fee included) and summer house with 1,441 rooms including a Hall of Mirrors where Mozart performed at the age of six before a young Marie Antoinette.
• Return to our hotel 
• Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Vienna. (B, D)

Day 9: Vienna – Heiligenkreuz Monastery - Budapest
• Breakfast at the hotel and check-out.
• This morning we head to the Vienna hills which witnessed the famous Battle of Vienna between the European armies headed by Polish King Jan Sobieski and the Ottomans, the victory of the Europeans armies was contributed to the Holy name of the Virgin Mary with a decree issued by Pope Innocent XI extending the feast of Our Lady Victory throughout the Catholic World. 
• On to visit the Cistercian Heiligenkreuz Monastery 
• Mass at Monastery 
• Lunch on your own 
• We depart for Budapest. Often compared with Paris, this glamorous city has something to offer every visitor.
• Arrive and check into your hotel.
• Enjoy free time to explore Budapest or rest before dinner.
• After dinner we enjoy a boat ride on the Danube enjoying Budapest by night illuminated buildings 
• Overnight at the hotel in Budapest. (B, D)

Day 10: Budapest

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Start the day with panoramic tour of Gellert hill and Citadel, then we visit the St Matyas Church & nearby Fishermen Bastion from where we enjoy a view of the City of Budapest dominated by the Parliament view.
  • Celebrate Mass at Matyas Church (subject to confirmation).
  • On we cross the St Elizabeth Bridget visiting Heroes square, St Stephen Basilica, See the Dohany Synagogue and the nearby Grand Market
  • Lunch on your own at the grand market
  • Afternoon at leisure enjoy the Vaci Ut Street or walk along the Danube river seeing the Shoe on the Danube Memorial or enjoy coffee along one of the many coffee shops lining the River bank
  • Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Budapest. (B, D)

Day 11: Budapest departure

  • Breakfast at the hotel and check-out.
  • Drive to Budapest Airport for your return flight. (B)
